Dr. Shura Alexis Moreno

Dr. Shura Alexis Moreno earned his undergrad degree (BA Biology and Chemistry) from California State Fullerton and his M.D. from the University of California – Irvine College of Medicine in 2000. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Mary Medical Center – Long Beach/Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2003. Dr. Moreno was born in El Salvador and he worked a few years as a Respiratory Therapist prior to persuing a career in medicine.

 He practices ambulatory care at Gabriel Medical Center, located at 4146 E Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, California where he sees general and internal medicine patients. He is particularly proud of this site in that he gets to work with the underserved community of the East Los Angeles area. Dr. Moreno also practices at Monterey Park hospital where he is a busy hospitalist. He is bilingual speaking English and Spanish.

 Dr. Moreno underwent a double lung transplant one year ago due to a severe Covid-19 lung infection, spending around 5 months in the ICU, but with his faith in God, his perseverance, warrior like mentality, and courage, he has made a full recovery. He is now back as a TOP DOCTOR serving the community he loves. He collaborated on the article “Covid Lungs: Transplants Are Last Resort for Many California Patients “, October 14th, 2021.  

Dr. Moreno states that his miraculous recovery is attributed to his deep belief: First God, then medical science! In his free time, he enjoys playing Latin Percussion and spending time with his family.
